We are moving to the UK! We have been thinking about returning for a long time and decided that this was the year to do this. So as part of the process, I moved my website to my host's UK site, where it promptly stopped working... Groan... I spent a number of hours with a variety of technical wizards, but to no avail. In the end it became apparent that my only option was to recreate all my website content then set about trying to find as many broken links as I could. So if you have been trying to find any of my old pages, I do apologise if you were directed to any dreaded "404" dead-link pages. Anyway, all is now well, so please enjoy both my brand-new website and also a view of the trees at Avebury in Wiltshire near to our new home! So let me give you some new links to try out: . My homepage can be found here and links to all my patterns here. Each of the patterns has a separate information page with photos, lots of details and links to my Ravelry shop and Etsy store for purchasing. . There are also information pages about our Reversible Knitting Stitches book and our new Sampler of Stitches E-book – both of which can be ordered from my Etsy store. . You'll also see an About tab with a bit about me and lots of photos of Where I like to knit, some going back more than 25 years! . I have also put together a brand-new section called Blogposts & Knitting Notes, where I have gathered together the best of the blogposts from my old site to form a set of notes, hints and tips you can use for all your knitting projects. It's been fun trying to put the new website together from scratch, so I hope you find it easy to use. Let me know what you think! And here is a new pattern for a Mens’ scarf, the Avebury Scarf. This design was inspired by our visit to the standing stones at Avebury, just along the path you can see in the photo at the top of this post. As the clouds scudded past in the strong breeze, the stones changed in colour from a light grey to a wonderfully deep indigo blue. It was quite magical... You could see how the stones have attracted people to visit for so many thousands of years. The scarf is completely reversible and is worked sideways in a very graphic, textural stitch from our Reversible Knitting Stitches book. This is Northern Tape Stitch, which was a new stitch we introduced into the book when we updated it last year. It is an easy stitch to knit, but gives a wonderful interplay of texture and shade. The subtle colour stripes and soft wool yarn used here emphasise this texture, giving a really interesting result. The pattern includes a choice of three lengths and two widths, so you can tailor the scarf for a range of wrapping styles. In the photo above, for example, the scarf has been knotted with a single crossing knot for a practical solution to a windy day, However, it can also be casually looped together as in the first photo as a nod back to those student days of yore. Or a more complicated Four-way Wrap is also possible with a longer scarf length. And if you're wondering what length scarf would suit you or your recipient best, then please look at my earlier blogpost: "How long shall I make this scarf?" The scarf is worked in a sportweight wool yarn for a light-weight but warm result – just perfect for this time of year. For more details about the Avebury Scarf, please click here. It is available for purchase from both my Etsy store and from Ravelry – both offering instant download from the site. You can also save it into your Ravelry library so you can access it from your phone or other devices when you are out and about. I hope you enjoy using both my new website and the new scarf pattern! Until next time – Happy Knitting! Moira For information about any of the patterns featured here or our Reversible Knitting Stitches book, please click the Patterns tab above.
