It’s Spring-time in Wiltshire!

I am now in the beautiful English county of Wiltshire and was just pausing before starting this blogpost to gaze at the stunning view in front of me. To my right I can see pheasants pecking away in the meadow, a small red fox has just run across from one side to the other and a short time ago I saw a little family of deer nibbling at the lower buds of Blackthorn that are flowering in profusion in the hedgerows.

The oak trees along the lane are bursting into leaf and beyond in the distance the Marlborough hills are cloaked in a thin blue haze. I could not imagine a more perfect setting to set up my new study desk and I count myself very lucky to be in this most beautiful part of the world.

I have also been having fun been exploring the many walks around our local area, including some ancient footpaths that have been in use for hundreds of years. The weather has been glorious for the last few weeks and it has been wonderful to stroll along the by-ways, meeting such interesting people along the way.

Wildflowers such as these pretty white bells and the more traditional bluebells are just starting to appear in the woods…

….  and there are even some early Cowslips just starting to appear. Every day I see different flowers on my walks. It is truly delightful.

And for the last few weeks I have even been knitting some flowers – but this time they are poppies! These are for a local appeal for knitted poppies to drape the local church here in Corsham. But more about this next time!
