KNITTING NEWS
New blogpost – Seeing Double:
A new blogpost series on knitting with two ends of yarn
I have just uploaded the first blogpost in a new series all about knitting with two or more ends of yarn held together. I love this technique as it can add to both the warmth of the finished item and give possibilities for colourwork and design.
In this series, I will be looking at some pattern examples and will describe why I think they work better with doubled yarns. I will start next time by introducing the new winter version of my Lamberhurst Scarf which uses two ends of a sportweight yarn for extra warmth and softness. I will also be touching on the structure of wool and how the qualities can be enhanced by using doubled-up yarns. I will then go on to discuss other projects which owe their patterning and design to this technique, such as the Ocean Currents Rug pictured here. Please click here to read the introductory blogpost and to see a picture of our brand new grandson! We have yet to meet this little fellow but hope to do so soon. |
New Winter Weight version for the Lamberhurst Scarf pattern
Winter is setting in hard in the northern states, isn't it, so it's definitely time to think about knitting scarves to keep warm!
I have a number of scarf patterns which include a thicker weight version, including the Beckenham Scarf and the Grantchester Scarf. However, I have recently received a number of requests for a thicker version of the Lamberhurst Scarf so have added that to the pattern. The pattern now includes 3 different versions so you'll be sure to find just the perfect option for your next men's scarf! Please click the link below for more information. |

Where we like to knit
If you click on the "About" tab of this website, you will see that I have a gallery of places where I like to knit, courtesy of my husband Tim's photos. Well, here's another one to add to that collection!
This was during our visit to Sweden last year and the photo shows Anna and I knitting together by Lake Mälaren in the gardens of Grönsöö Palace just to the west of Stockholm. It was gloriously sunny and warm during our visit and it was so enjoyable to be with Anna and her husband. Please click here to read more about this beautiful place. |
